About

Welcome to Guitars, Drums, Tones and Saxophones!

This is a music blog about any and all music I find interesting or fun. It will deal primarily with punk and ska music, since that’s a large percentage of the music I enjoy, but will also include such genres as synthpop, indie rock, bluegrass, and anything else that I pick up and dig.

The site will have a couple of types of features:

  • Reviews: there will be a few reviews posted each week. Naturally, I’ll try for new albums, but if there are a lack of new albums, or I don’t have the time to properly give my attention to such releases, there might be a “classic album” review. Reviews aren’t given stars or anything; it can more or less be assumed that if I’m talking about it here, it’s awesome, and should be listened to as soon as humanly possible.
  • Editorials: kind of like opinion articles. Just posts discussing things that I consider important, or maybe suggested by commenters, relating to the scope of the blog, of course. Feel free to send in topics!
  • News Recaps: This isn’t a news blog, but if something big happens, I’ll try to throw a note about it, with some links to learn more.

That’s about it for now. Look around, and hopefully you’ll enjoy yourself!

About Me:

Hi. I’m John, this is my website. I live in the Boston area, and try to go to as many shows as possible. I love music, and am using this space to go on (and on and on) about music I love. I would say I’m primarily into punk and ska music, but my interests run all over the place, to indie rock, hip-hop, bluegrass, country, metal, synthpop, etc. etc.

Favorite Bands/Artists:

  • Bad Religion
  • The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
  • The Pet Shop Boys
  • The Smiths
  • Jimmy Buffett

Recent Obsessions:

  • The Ergs!
  • Hot Water Music
  • The Gaslight Anthem
  • Propagandhi
  • The Methadones

I could probably write more here, but that’s what the blog is for. Go forth!

Links about me:

  • my Last.FM page: if you’re here, you might as well see what I’m listening to
  • my comic: infrequently updated, I admit
  • my deviantART: more frequently updated
  • MySpace: I have one, but just to keep track of bands and such
